Pen-for-hire

I find a sense of fulfillment and purpose when I pen my thoughts. Luckily, my profession also allows me to sustain myself by writing. This site contains a mix of my work-related writings as well as random musings that make one feel better about life. I enjoy writing about my passions, what interests me, what interests other people, and sharing it with the world.

For decades the residents of Khliehshnong village in Meghalaya struggled for a regular supply of water during the dry months of November-April, despite getting abundant rainfall and being surrounded by six springs. Not many of us look at pollution as a resource that can be harvested, but some young entrepreneurs are setting a trend.

If one were to read Rudyard Kipling’s poem Gunga Din today, little could be understood of whom the poem was about without the help of Google, our digital life-partner. The 19th century poem is about a fictional character called Gunga Din, a Bhishti or a traditional water carrier who serves water to soldiers serving in the colonial British army. Not many know of the Bhishti today, and if they do, there is little chance that they have seen many of them lately.

Most urban Indians dread bedtime. Sleep disorders ensure that 93 per cent of the people living in cities don't sleep well or worse, are not able to sleep at all. What is causing us to lose sleep?

Moringa and tamarind are popularly known as the trees of life for Indians. Moringa is in fashion as the world eyes India to feed its frenzy for the new superfood. Hardy tamarind shares the same versatility but struggles to find its way out of the wood.

During a conference, I went to attend one of the taste workshops. There were quite a few such workshops which experimented with various kinds of honey, wild edibles and fermented food.
I chose to participate in the insect-tasting workshop.
